Jade Shari Romain, 25 years of age, was born on December 2nd 1991 on the Nature Isle of the Caribbean, Dominica.
Her educational journey began at the Goodwill Primary School, she then segued in the Dominica Grammar School where she achieved 9 CXC CSEC passes, 5 of which are Grade One’s. Being a proud graduate of the Dominica State College and the holder of Associate Degrees in Accounting and French, Jade also gained A-Level credentials in Accounting and General Paper. She is currently an undergraduate student of the University of the West Indies where she is pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and it is in this field she intends to mold a career for herself in the next five years of life.
Gainfully employed at the National Co-operative Credit Union, attached to the Human Resource Department as a Member Services Representative, Jade’s life philosophy is a quote from Mother Teresa which states, “Be faithful in small things because it is in them that your strength lies.”
Her passion for adventure and the positive development for the youth has fostered her hobbies which include hiking, exploring new places, reading novels and providing support to the scholarship students which her employer sponsors on an annual basis during the secondary and tertiary levels of their education.
Being raised in a single parent household by a mother who suffers from a mental condition, Jade has grown to appreciate the good and positivity in everyone around her and has a special interest in improving public knowledge in all aspects of public health and reducing stigma towards those affected with mental illness.
Jade is a humble, friendly and intelligent young lady, who values family, education, the wellbeing of others and environmental conservation.
Not having any pageant experience prior to contesting for the Miss Dominica title, Jade remained focused as always, worked extremely hard to win her title and is proud of her accomplishment. She is also proud to be an ambassador for her country and to represent her people locally, regionally and internationally.
Individuals who Jade admires the most include her mother, Ruth Emanuel, who instilled hard work, prayer and determination in her; former First Lady of the United States Michelle Obama for her drive to champion the cause to elevate women and girls in all facets of society and her former employer the late Mr. Anderson Jolly of Jolly’s Pharmacy for his contribution to the development of Dominica.
